The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law has produced this publication to include the full text of the Convention on the Recognition and the Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards with recommendation regarding the interpretation and the status of the convention as at 1 January 2008. Recognizing the growing importance of international arbitration as a means of settling international commercial disputes; the Convention seeks to provide common legislative standards for the recognition of arbitration agreements and court recognition and enforcement of foreign and non-domestic arbitral awards.
